Diabetic Retinopathy

This is a condition caused by diabetes either type 1 or type 2.

It leads to damage of retina from either swelling of the macula (central vision) or damage to the peripheral vision from development of abnormal retinal vessels. Both types of damage can be treated with laser, injection of drugs into the eye and even surgery if needed.
